DetailsOne of the first things we do this week is talk about the value of planning. I explain to them that calendars work 2 directions, they not only show us where we've been when looking back on the calendar, but they also show us where exactly we're going and hold us accountable to our own project ideas. I use this video below to show them how to embed a Google calendar into their Weebly website.

Additionally we started the Motivational Narrative on Monday. It is a 3 to 4 paragraph response explaining "why" they chose the passion they chose. The rubric focuses only on expression of thought and conventions. It was due on Friday. The idea is that they'll post this to their webpage after I make corrections.

I also use surveys to gather information. This week I gathered their synopsis for their project, their url because they published their project with a domain, and a little information on what they know about questions types. The information on question types is a segway into next week.

We started looking at who we were going to interview for their project. It's best if the person that they're interviewing has an established reputation within their field and can help them, so finding who this person is, might be a little tricky. It works best through email correspondence so that their answers to the interview questions are transcribed. Through this, I'll teach them the differences between fact and opinion, open-ended and closed questions, and what a declarative question is. The rubric asks that they have 4 open, 4 closed, and 2 declarative questions. Some kids interview more than one person.
